Jake Owen is always willing to be a little different, but a lot himself. So instead of belting out a standard Christmas hit that evokes memories of sleigh rides and snowflakes, he sang the Hawaiian-themed Christmas song 'Mele Kalikimaka' during Monday's (Dec. 2) 2013 'CMA Country Christmas' special!

With a backdrop of sand, surf and sun onstage, you almost felt transported to the floral air of Hawaii -- except for all of the Christmas trees, which probably should have been palm trees!

Owen always looks crisp and polished, and this holiday performance was no exception. His trademark hair was sleek and slicked back a bit, and he wore a festive cranberry suit blazer while his backup singers sported black dresses and colorful leis.

As he sang, adorable little elves walked around in the audience, handing out floral leis to the crowd to get into the ... Hawaiian spirit. While most people won't be experiencing Christmas where the "palm trees sway," it will be a happy holiday indeed, whether you say 'Mele Kalikimaka' or 'Merry Christmas.'
