Tyson Zimmer, a 7-year-old boy in Nebraska who is dying of brain cancer, is a huge Jason Aldean fan. The little boy with the sweet smile told Nebraska’s KOLN-TV, “I sing ‘Big Green Tractor’ because that’s my favorite.” As family and friends have watched Zimmer battle the horrible disease, they rallied around him, joining in a Twitter campaign to request that Aldean send the young boy a message.

“If Jason Aldean even just sent a video message, that would make his day big time,” Zimmer’s mom, Liz Duering, told the news station. As it turns out, Aldean would do that and even more. In a video on the social networking site WhoSay, Aldean — a father of two — sent Zimmer a message of hope and encouragement and also invited him out to a show. The star even sent autographed posters, CDs and four backstage passes to meet him when the family comes out.

The family is headed to Disney World next week as a part of their trip from the Make-a-Wish Foundation, and when they return, they’re planning on seeing Aldean live in concert in Illinois May 11 or 12. Now they’re just trying to raise money for the airfare to get to the show.

To help the family with the expense, supporters can buy $5 a “Say~Fight~Cure” Tyson wristband by sending an emailing tysonsfightagainstcancer@gmail.com. The idea was the brainchild of local radio station Froggy 98, who met with the Zimmers and vowed to help Tyson by gaining re-tweets on Twitter, which eventually caught Aldean’s eye.

In his video to Tyson, Aldean invited the Zimmers out to his concert and also said, “Hey, what’s up Tyson? It’s Jason Aldean. I heard your story, man. I heard you’re going through a little bit of a rough time there in Omaha. I just want you to know that I appreciate you being a fan of my music … glad you like it man … Just wanted to let you know that I’m thinking about you man.”
