Here's how Duets is designed to work.  The celebrity judges will travel across America, looking for promising talent.  Then, each judge-mentor will bring two of them back and perform a duet with them.  The judging will probably be pretty intense and none of the judges is much of a push-over.

The reality genre has pretty much taken over the primetime of network television.  In addition to Duets, we already have American Idol, The Voice, The X Factor and America's Got Talent.

Is there room for one more?  Well ABC is certainly banking on it and hope that this summer's debut of Duets won't get lost in the shuffle.

According to a press release from ABC, Clarkson, Nettles, Richie and Thicke will search for talent across the country before ultimately choosing two singers as their duet partners. Each week, the stars and their protégés will perform and the eventual winner will get a recording contract with

Kelly Clarkson has already made her feelings known on the new show:

The simple fact that I get to go out and find two people that I believe in, sing with them every week, and help them accomplish their dream is an amazing thing that I can't wait to be a part of.

And here's a quote from Jennifer from the same press release:

To have had the opportunity to perform with an established artist would have been so incredible when I was up and coming.

The series has no definitie debut date.  The eventual winner will be awarded an exclusive recording contract with Hollywood Records.
