When it comes to taking a stand against childhood hunger, Jewel is taking a back seat to no one. She's joining with other artists that are contributing their time and efforts to keep the opportunity for nutritious food going out to all children in the country.

The program is called Child Hunger Ends Here and is a joint effort with Agri-Business giant ConAgra Foods. The program is now in its third year and Jewel is offering her help in the form of a new, original song called Here's Hope. The song and video are both available at the Child Hunger Ends Here's official website, as well as the singer website here

Jewel is joined in the effort by fellow artists Owl City and Jay Sean.

ConAgra Foods hopes to reach their goal of five million meals during the 2012 school year.

In an interview with our friends at The Boot, Jewel had these comments:

A lot of people think child hunger is something that happens in other countries, they don't realize how prevalent it is here in the United States.  It affects our kids right here in our backyard. There are 16 million who don't know where their next meal is coming from. It's not homeless kids. It's not kids whose parents don't have jobs. It's families that are really struggling with the economy and having to choose between the medication they need or groceries they need over the weekend. A lot of these kids will get a hot meal at school and that's it.

Jewel recorded her contribution song partly in Nashville and partly at the Texas Ranch she shares with her rodeo champion husband, Ty Murray.

Jewel has a lot on her plate right now. She just recently became a mom and she's a mentor on the widely popular The Voice on NBC.

She's urging everyone to get involved to fight hunger by any means they can, whether it's donating your time to a foodbank, donating during food drives or contributing cash.
