Laramie won nine combined events and both teams finished in the top three at the 2016 Natrona Track and Field Invite Friday in Casper.

McCade Johnson won both the 110 and 300 hurdle races and ran lead-off on the victorious 4X400 relay that helped the Plainsmen come in second place. Johnson won the 110’s in 15.35 seconds to beat teammate Zach Ziegler. He was the only hurdler to run sub-40 seconds in the 300’s with a time of 39.18. Johnson led the LHS boy’s to a time of 3:31.94 in their relay win.

Tyler Dahl won the 400 meters in 51.63 seconds. Chris Henry captured the 1600 meters in 4:30.07, and he added a runner-up placing in the 800 meter run.  Liam McInroy beat out teammate Derk Lyford for the title in the 3200 meters. McInroy’s time was 10:29.34. The last title came from Nate Albers, who remained unbeaten during the outdoor season in the pole vault. He cleared 13 feet-3 inches.

The Plainsmen utilized 30 finishes in the top eight that resulted in points.

Laramie scored 163.50 team points and came in behind the Kelly Walsh Trojans. They won the meet on the boy’s side with 174.50 points. Natrona was third with 161.50 points.

Kaitlyn Bingham and Kayla Sherrodd won events for the Lady Plainsmen, which helped them to a third place team finish.

Bingham leapt 34 feet 2.75 inches in her triple jump victory. Her win was by nearly three feet. Sherrodd won the 800 meters by over four seconds with a time of 2:23.44.

The Lady Plainsmen came up with 21 finishes that produced points. Katie Reynolds added a second place in the 100 meters. Maria Smith-Lopez came in second place in both the 1600 and 3200 meter races. Another runner-up finish was by the 4X400 relay.

Laramie scored 101 points for third place. The Natrona Fillies ran away with the team crown thanks to 213 points. Kelly Walsh was second with 126.
