So, did you know there's a Kid Rock Foundation?  Neither did I.  But, it turns out that Kid Rock has been using his foundation for quite some time now to help the less-advantaged citizens of his hometown of Detroit.

Kid was in Detroit last Wednesday to oversee the distribution of aid in conjunction with Hartford Memorial Baptist Church.

The joint effort resulted in 100 gift cards and 300 food baskets being handed out.

This year more than ever before, there will be more needy families, unfortunately even more than last year, said Reverend Charles G. Adams, according to ClickOnDetroit.com. We are extremely pleased to partner with the Kid Rock Foundation in this effort to give to needy families in the community.

Kid Rock's mission statement for his organization reads: I can't stop the war, shelter homeless, feed the poor.  I can't walk on water. Can't save your sons and daughters. I can't change the world to make things fair. The least that I can do is care.

This isn't the only way that the Michigan native shows he cares. He recently wrapped up his 12-city Care Tour, donating to local charities in each town.

I started a charity a few years ago (the Kid Rock Foundation, based in Detroit), and there are a lot of good people in Detroit who need help, he continued. But I decided to go out and play music in its most honest form, take some money and give it to our neighbors. By the time this tour is over, we will have given $375,000 to friends in these cities through the Foundation.

As I was always taught, From those who much has been given, much is expected.  Good on Kid for this and the other work he does for those in need.  Just what this time of year needs, a good act and a kind heart.  Merry Christmas.
