An unblemished record remains intact for the 4th-ranked Laramie Lady Plainsmen after a 4-0 victory over #3 Sheridan Saturday in Laramie.

Laramie (4-0, 2-0) scored twice in the final 15 minutes of the first half. They tacked on two more in the next 20 minutes of soccer.

Head coach Kim Whisenant said she wasn't sure what to expect at the start, but feels good about their direction.

"This team is finally coming together and playing together. It's not so individual-based; I've always said we have so many good individuals on this team, but we need to try to channel that positively and play as a unit. I think we did just that this weekend."

The Lady Plainsmen were led by sophomore Courtney Hamilton again. She had a goal and two assists in the match. She scored off a corner kick by Paige Trent in the 26th minute for the opening goal of the match.

Whisenant remarked on another good day for Hamilton.

"We do put her in those situations because she's just so good in the air... I was really proud of she stepped up and was a play-maker in the midfield, as well."

Six minutes later sophomore Lexi Pulley found the back of the net off a feed from Hamilton. That made it 2-0 and was the margin at half.

Sophomore Lindsey Meyer tallied in the 47th minute off an assist from Sekoya Romero. Romero then added the final goal off a feed from Hamilton in the 59th minute.

Romero said of the pass, "I know Courtney. I've played with her for so long; I know when she's going to send it, so I was just waiting, and I made a little run around right when she passed it; it was good timing."

Whisenant added of Hamilton's assists, "She had some really good balls. I was really happy with her vision on the field, and how she took a look before she kicked it."

As for the 2-0 start to 4A East Conference play, Romero said it's important.

"It gives us so much confidence going into the other teams, like Central, South and especially East."

The Lady Plainsmen continue league action Tuesday versus Cheyenne South at 5 p.m. The match will be at the UW North 40 soccer field.
