The Laramie 11-12 year old All-Stars cruised to their second consecutive District 2 Little League title with a 16-2 victory over Gillette last Friday.

Laramie hit three home runs and took advantage of nine walks and four Gillette errors.

A three-run home run from Kolton Brenneman gave the 11-12 All-Stars an early lead. Brandon Chavez added a solo blast as part of a three-run second inning for 6-0 lead. Laramie added four in the fifth and six in the sixth inning. That included a solo home run from Jake Vigen.

Manager Jerry Dodd said they played hard all week.

“They persevered. It’s been a long week, and they’re tired, but we had some guys step up that really gave us great at-bats. A couple of home runs in there by some guys that I know are capable of it. They came out focused and helped carry the team.”

Jaedyn Brown had three hits to lead a 12-hit attack. Brenneman finished with two hits and four RBI’s.

Brown also was the winning pitcher. He allowed one run on four hits over two-and-two-thirds innings.

Dodd added, “It’s nice to be the winner in your hometown, anytime. Now we can carry that momentum up to state.”

Laramie takes the top seed from District 2 to the Wyoming Little League State Tournament next Wednesday in Lovell. The 11-12 All-Stars will play Riverton at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 27. Cody will take on Gillette at 4 p.m.
