The Laramie 9 and 10 year old all-star team will be playing for a championship. They downed Lander 13-3 Thursday afternoon at the Little League State Championship.

Though the final score may indicate a one-sided affair, it was not in the least. In fact, Lander held a 3-2 advantage in the middle of the 5th inning. The Gem City's All-Stars rallied for 11 runs in the 5th inning, sending 15 batters to the plate.

Garrett Dodd led off the inning with a double and later hit a grand slam. Dodd also homered in the third and finished with 6 RBI. George Yost picked up the win on the hill for Laramie going 1 2/3 innings.

Laramie had 7 hits and took advantage of 10 walks and 4 Lander errors.

Head coach Jerry Dodd told us after the game "They definitely started seeing the ball, Garrett hit a double, the home run, and started out the 5th inning with another double.  They were patient at the plate and made the pitchers throw to us and we just took advantage of what we needed to.”

Lander will have a shot at a rematch, but first must get past Cody. That game is set for Friday at 4 p.m. The winner faces Laramie in the championship Saturday at 10 a.m.
