Laramie’s three-game home-stand in conference play continues Friday night, when the Plainsmen and Lady Plainsmen host Cheyenne South at the LHS gym.

The doubleheader begins with the girl’s game at 5:30 p.m. followed by the boy’s game at 7 p.m.

Laramie Lady Plainsmen

After they were swept last weekend, Laramie seeks to snap a four-game losing streak. Laramie enters with a 7-6 record on the season, while the South Lady Bison are 6-8 overall.

Both teams are seeking their first 4A East Conference victory.

South and Laramie are very similar statistically. The Bison average only 0.6 points per game more than the Lady Plainsmen, 46.6-to-46. Laramie holds slight edges in team shooting, rebounding and defense.

Laramie is led by sophomore Lexi Pulley, who averages 9.5 points, 1.9 assists and 2.8 steals per game.

South counters with junior Karli Noble. She is scoring 13.6 points and snagging 3.1 steals per game.

Lady Plainsmen head coach Laura Pollard said it’s been nice to prepare for just the one opponent this week. She provides a glimpse at the match-up with the Bison and says the squad has focused quite a bit on trying to put the ball in the basket during practice this week.

Laramie Plainsmen

Following their split to begin league play last weekend, the Plainsmen will host the 4th-ranked South Bison. Laramie has a 6-7 overall, while the Bison are 11-2 on the year.

Laramie has won two straight in the series.

The Plainsmen are led by senior Jake Aadland. He is averaging 17.6 points, 6 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game.

Senior Isaiah Dicks leads South at 16.2 points and 5.3 rebounds per game.

Laramie head coach Ryan Puckett said it’s been a different week of preparation with just the one game to focus on, but we’ve got to stay with our plan.

“I thought versus Sheridan we really stuck to our identity; that grind it out, win down the stretch team. Then Gillette, we kind of played into their hands. This is a very similar team.”

These are the top two defensive teams in 4A, as South surrenders 46.4 points per game compared to Laramie’s 48.3. The difference is on offense where the Bison are putting up 60.3 points per game, while the Plainsmen are near the bottom at 46 per contest.

Puckett added that controlling tempo will be key.
