The young and young-at-heart gathered at the First Street Plaza, in Laramie, Friday evening to light the downtown Christmas tree.  The tree itself is a permanent fixture of the plaza and was planted when the plaza was built.

This year the tree stands approximately 12 feet, and was decorated for the season by the Laramie Main Street Alliance.

Children in the crowd were invited to come up and give the countdown for the tree's decorations to be brought to life just after 5:30 Friday evening.  A Christmas parade followed the tree lighting.
