A Laramie man was arrested earlier this week on a felony charge following an alleged domestic dispute.

According to a press release from the Laramie Police Department, 22-year-old Alec M. Britt is charged with strangulation of a household member. He is being held in the Albany County Detention Center on $10,000 bond.

Police responded to the 500 block of Ivinson at 1:20 a.m. Monday after an unidentified person called 911 to report a domestic dispute was taking place.

The press release says only that officers arrested Britt as a result of their investigation.

If convicted, Britt could face a maximum sentence of up to five years in prison.

Under Wyoming Statute 6-2-509, a person commits strangulation of a household member if they intentionally and knowingly or recklessly cause or attempt to cause bodily injury to a household member by impeding the normal breathing or circulation of blood by applying pressure on the throat or neck of the household member; or blocking the nose and mouth of the household member.
