Laramie residents have long known that their town is, for the most part, an idyllic spot. But Laramie is getting some national recognition and has been named one of the top 100 places to live in Livability.com’s 2018 Top 100 Places to Live list.

For the fifth year, Livability.com compiled a list of the best places in the U.S. to live. This year, Livability.com ranked nearly 2,300 cities on more than 40 data points that measured economics, housing, amenities, infrastructure, demographics, social and civic capital, education and health care.

Laramie placed 69 on the top 100 list, with its low cost of living and plethora of outdoor activities such as mountain biking and skiing contributing to its high ranking. Its small-town atmosphere was a factor as well.

“The community’s small-town charm attracts both families and retirees,” Livability.com writes. “And the most famous annual event is Laramie Jubilee Days each July that brings in more than 100,000 people.”

Livability.com ranked Laramie high in education as well thanks to the University of Wyoming, WyoTech and the Laramie County Community College Albany County campus.
