Laramie High School seniors Carless Looney and McCade Johnson have both decided to become Wyoming Cowboys next fall.

The senior duo signed their National Letter of Intent on Nov. 9 in a ceremony at Laramie High School.

Looney is the reigning state champ at 170-pounds in class 4A and was runner-up at 160 his sophomore season. He’s a two-time All-State wrestler, who was also a freshman All-American. Looney is 149-30 in three seasons at Laramie High School. As a state champion in 2016 Looney recorded 28 wins by pin, had 21 tech falls and a pair of major decisions. He’s been a part of the Laramie Wrestling Club, FCA and Key Club. Looney maintains a 3.6 grade point average.

The senior at LHS explains his decision; why he signed early and going for more this season.

Looney is expected to wrestle in the 184-pound class at UW.

Johnson is a two-time state champion and three-time All-State performer in hurdle events both indoors and outdoors. The senior won the 55-meter hurdles at the Wyoming State Indoor Track Championships last March. In fact, he won every race he was part of last season except at the Simplot Games. Johnson was even ranked 27th nationally. He followed that up with a victory in the 300 hurdles at the Wyoming Outdoor State Track and Field Championships last May and added a runner-up finish in the 110 hurdles. Johnson went undefeated in the 300 hurdles with only one loss in the 110’s. McCade holds a 3.8 GPA and has been involved with FCA, Youth Group and local community service projects at the Soup Kitchen and Community and County Clean-up day activities.

This LHS senior admitted the decision became easy once UW showed interest; feels it’s the right fit and enlightens more about his career and looking ahead to his senior seasons.

Johnson will run hurdles for the Cowboys with the possibility of relays, as well.

The Laramie High School winter sports season will begin Dec. 8. Wrestling heads to Rapid City, SD on Dec. 9 and 10. Indoor Track season will start Jan. 14, 2017 at Black Hills State University in Spearfish, SD with the annual Stadium Sports Grill High School Open Indoor Track Meet.
