A Fort Collins native who graduated from the University of Wyoming has written a piece for newstastic.com describing the differences between the two rival cities.

Laramie and Fort Collins are separated by just 65 miles, but are vastly different. Fort Collins is home to Colorado State University, while the University of Wyoming is in Laramie.  Both university's athletic programs compete in the Mountain West Conference allowing the "border war" to take place annually.

Most in the area would argue there is a "neighborly" quality to the rivalry, but both sides are proud of where they come from.
