Laramie and communities across the country will take time to remember the first responders who sacrificed their lives saving others on Sept. 11, 2001.

The annual Memorial Stair Climb and Flag Ceremony at the University of Wyoming's War Memorial Stadium are set to begin at 1 p.m. Sunday. Registration begins at 12:30 p.m.

Also on Sunday, #TheGoodDeedChallenge is asking participants to do a good turn by completing a small act of service that helps others. Individual efforts may be small, but the combined effect promotes the sense of unity and compassion that arose in the immediate aftermath of the 9/11 attacks.

Over 40 million Americans observe Sept. 11 each year by performing good deeds for others, according to 911day.org, making it the largest day of the year for charitable engagement.

Laramie's events at War Memorial Stadium are put on by the Laramie Fire Department in conjunction with the UW Office of Service, Leadership and Community Engagement.
