The Downtown Mash Up begins at 3 p.m. today on Grand Avenue between First and Second Streets in the heart of downtown Laramie.

This event is open to the public and is scheduled to run until midnight.  It is comprised of more than a dozen activities, including a wing eating contest, a group yoga session, and a street dance.  There will also be performances by magician John Rotellini and the University of Wyoming Western Thunder Marching Band.

The Laramie Main Street Alliance, in collaboration with the University of Wyoming Athletics Department and local businesses, hosts this annual fundraiser on the Friday before the University of Wyoming's first home football game.  This will be the first year of the Downtown Mash Up to offer participants various opportunities to play games of chance and win merchandise from local businesses.

It’s all part of the plan to preserve historic downtown Laramie, while increasing social vitality and spurring economic development.

Kids’ activities and a meet-and-greet with University of Wyoming athletes will kick off the event.  Local brews from The Library Sports Grille & Brewery, Altitude Chophouse and Brewery, and Coal Creek TAP will be available until midnight.  There will be food vendors and live music to keep the party going past sundown.  This year’s sponsors include D&L Music, The Curiosity Shoppe, Premier Bone and Joint, Smith Beverage, Rocky Mountain Power, and the University of Wyoming Alumni Association.
