By selling over 69,000 copies of her new album ‘Wildflower,’ Lauren Alaina‘s debut becomes the best-selling by a female country artist since 2006. She is also the youngest female artist with a Top 5 debut on the Billboard 200 since LeAnn Rimes in 1996.

Kellie Pickler‘s 2006 debut album topped Alaina with sales of over 79,000. Prior to that, Carrie Underwood‘s 2005 debut ‘Some Hearts’ sold over 315,000 albums in it’s first week of sales.

“I am just so thankful that I have been given the opportunity to share my music with the world,” Alaina said in a press release. “To see my name on the charts alongside country greats that I have admired and looked up to my whole life is absolutely mind-blowing!”

‘Wildflower’ also becomes the best-selling digital album by a debut country female, selling almost 20,000 copies in the first week. The album features ‘Like My Mother Does’ and her current single ‘Georgia Peaches.’

This Saturday, Alaina will join Pickler and Martina McBride for Opry Goes Pink, a concert benefiting Women Rock for the Cure.
