By the time she was 14, LeAnn Rimes had already recorded four albums — and the fourth, 1996′s ‘Blue,’ sold more than six million copies in the United States alone.

Rimes has come a long way since those early days — she’s now a 28-year-old married woman with 15 studio albums under her belt. And for her latest studio set, ‘Lady and Gentlemen,’ she took a brand new approach.

“The music is all cover songs but all of them were originally recorded by men … But not from a woman’s perspective,” Rimes explained during a recent interview. “We paid homage to the originals, but I twisted everything in a way to make it my own.”

Offering further proof that she was willing to climb out on a limb during the sessions, she added, “I sing in Spanish on the record. I don’t think there has been a covers record made like this.”

For ‘Lady and Gentlemen,’ due September 27, Rimes enlisted Vince Gill and Darrell Brown to co-produce with her. Although the full track listing hasn’t been announced, Rimes has tweeted a few of the songs fans can expect to hear, including ‘Tonight the Bottle Let Me Down’ and John Anderson’s ‘Swingin’.’
