If there was any doubt Luke Bryan would be pulling for his hometown hopeful Phillip Phillips to win this season of ‘American Idol,’ a recent video posted on his official Twitter account dismisses any suspicion. According to Bryan, his fellow Leesburg, Ga. native is the clear frontrunner as supreme winner during this week’s season finale.

“When I found out there was a Leesburg boy doing well on ‘American Idol,’ I’ve been watching every episode. It’s truly amazing watching you’re climb,” says Bryan in the clip. “I’m pulling for you buddy!”

Last week, Phillips — along with fellow contestant Jessica Sanchez — advanced to the finale after Joshua Ledet narrowly missed out on a Top 2 placement. Phillips ended last week’s episode with a stellar performance of the Bob Seger classic ‘We’ve Got Tonight,’ which garnered critical praise from the judges and won the hearts of the voting audience.

Will Bryan’s campaign sway the voting audience to pull for Phillips? Tune in tonight (May 23) to see who is crowned this year’s ‘American Idol.’
