A man who says he moved recently to the city of Laramie, has been arrested and faces charges of wrongful taking or disposing of property, after officers received information that the car he was in had been reported stolen.

47-year-old Larry Guajardo appeared in Albany County Circuit Court Tuesday morning, wearing shackles and a black-and-white jail jumpsuit.  Addressing the court, Guajardo asked for a public attorney before entering a plea on the charge against him.

According to court paperwork, Laramie Police responded to a call of a man loitering outside a local bar.  Upon arrival, police found a man, later identified as Guajardo, sitting in a car with Michigan plates.  Investigation by law enforcement determined the car had been reported stolen out of Michigan.

Police affidavits say that Guajardo had said that he had been in possession of the vehicle for three to four weeks.  During questioning, Guajardo had said that he had borrowed the car from a friend, and also told officers that the car was his and he had paid $150 for it.

Guajardo made headlines in the Michigan area in 2011 after he was implicated in connection with the kidnapping of to juveniles, who were later recovered in Ohio.  According to a Holland, Michigan news website, Guajardo was arrested in Iowa along with his then-girlfriend, the children's mother, in June of 2011.  Donna Perez faced kidnapping charges at the time, Guajardo was said to have faced drug possession charges.  District Court Officials in Allegan County, Michigan could not be reached for further details on that case.

Currently, Guajardo is wanted on two warrants out of Ottowa County, Michigan for charges of 2nd degree home invasion and failure to pay fines to the court.

Guajardo is currently in the custody of the Albany County Detention Center, on a $10,000 cash bond.
