A man charged with a DUI- fourth or subsequent offense, was convicted in Albany County District Court Tuesday, June 6.

According to court documents, Chad Christopher Hyatt was arrested on Oct. 20 after the Wyoming Highway Patrol received a tip about a Chevrolet pickup truck driving erratically and heading south towards Laramie on Highway 30. A deputy found the truck near milepost 290 on Highway 30 parked just off the shoulder of the roadway.

The deputy interviewed Hyatt, who was slurring his words and smelled strongly of alcohol. Beer cans were spread throughout the truck. A chemical test of Hyatt’s breath showed his blood alcohol content to be .11 percent, court documents state.

The jury began deliberations shortly after 9 a.m. The jury initially was unable to agree on a verdict. The court was called back in session at about 10:50 a.m. and Albany County District Court Judge Tori Kricken asked the jury to deliberate a little longer. The verdict was reached at about noon.

Hyatt is awaiting sentencing at the Albany County Detention Center.
