The Colorado Rockies (19-29), who had limped home after a 2-4 road trip, swept a doubleheader against the Houston Astros (22-27) yesterday in Denver, winning the first game 9-7, and the second 7-6. The Rockies are off today, before facing the Astros at Coors Field again tomorrow and Thursday.

Jordan Pacheco keyed the Game 1 win, while Dexter Fowler wore the cape in Game 2.

Jordan Pacheco’s soft single in the eighth inning of Game 1 made a day full of hard hits count for the Rockies. Pacheco’s soft liner fell in the right spot in center field, and drove in the winning runs in a much-needed 9-7 victory. The Rockies’ five-run first inning included Pacheco’s RBI triple, as well as Wilin Rosario’s two-run shot. Troy Tulowitzki had an RBI double in the first, and led off the fifth with his eighth homer of the season, and fifth in seven games.

In Game 2, Dexter Fowler lashed a 10th-inning RBI triple into the right-field corner to give the Rockies a 7-6 victory over the Astros to complete a doubleheader sweep. Fowler, who also homered off of Astros starter Jordan Lyles, drew a bases-loaded walk in the fourth just ahead of Marco Scutaro’s three-run double, and finished 4-for-4 with three RBIs. His 10th-inning triple drove in Michael Cuddyer, who had just singled.

It was a tough doubleheader for starting pitchers. Colorado’s Juan Nicasio, who went six innings in the first game, and Game 2′s Alex White, were given a combined 13 runs of support in their 11 innings, yet neither received a decision.
