Merle Haggard will be heading home to northern California soon. WMAZ in Macon, Ga. reports that the 74-year-old singer’s condition has improved and that he’ll be released shortly.

The television station is relaying information from someone in Haggard’s touring group. His silver bus was seen parked outside the Georgia Heart Center in downtown Macon. Furthermore, Haggard’s wife and family are now in town, visiting with him at the hospital.

Haggard took ill prior to a Tuesday night show in Macon and canceled all remaining January tour stops to recover from pneumonia. A number of those shows will be rescheduled; WMAZ reports that the Macon date will be made good on April 25.

John Rich also tweeted about Haggard’s condition. “Just heard from Merle Haggard’s camp and they say “he’s going to be released from the hospital and get’s to go home.” HANG TOUGH HAG!” he said Friday afternoon.
