Let's hear it for Miranda Lambert's MuttNation, her foundation that supports animal shelters in general and the Humane Society of East Texas in particular.

Miranda's latest fundraising efforts for the organization raised almost $300,000.oo the country star announced on Wednesday.  This is the fourth year for the annual "Cause For Paws" event.  The benefit featured Miranda, Stoney LaRue and Josh Kelley.  The event drew an estimated 7,000 people.

The exact total raised turned out to be $294,000.00 and combined with the  past three years, that brought the total for the life of the organization to just under $600,000.00.  Since Lambert started the foundation, The Humane Society of East Texas has become a no-kill shelter.

"This year, we took our event to the streets of Tyler to open it up to a broader fan base for both Miranda and the shelter," said Bev Lambert who is the Director of MuttNation and the singer's mother. "There was no shortage of support in this community. Going from 1,000 to over 7,000 in attendance was quite the feat, and we are more than thrilled with the outcome."

Miranda practices what she preaches, of course.  In addition to volunteering at the local shelter, Lambert adopted her dog Delilah there, who joins her other rescue animals Jesse, Waylon, Delta Dawn, Cher, Black Betty, Virginia Bluebell and cats Shelley, Maxine, and Suzie Q as well as farm animals too numerous to mention by name.

So let's hear it for Miranda and the puppies and kittens.  If you're interested in helping a shelter locally, I'd reccomend this one.
