More Garfield Parking-Ask the City

Question:

Why is there more parking on Garfield and 30th Street for Laramie GM than Snowy Range Vision Center?

Answer:

"Traffic operations at the intersection of 30th Street and Garfield have been analyzed on several occasions. The current parking configuration is designed to provide maximum sight distance at the intersection and to provide as safe an intersection for vehicles and pedestrians as possible. Parking along Garfield to the east of 30th Street was analyzed in the same manner and with the intent of improving safety. Parking was configured to provide adequate sight triangles and accommodate turn lanes; the diagonal parking was not installed near the intersection of 30th and Garfield to preserve sight distance. However, a field inspection will be performed to determine if additional parallel parking spaces can safely be added without diminishing sight distance criteria."
