Earlier this spring, Loretta Lynn was forced to cancel appearances due to extreme pain in her knee.  Now comes word that to address the problem, knew surgery is called for, and that means even more cancellations.

The 76 year old legendary performer has been told that the knee reconstruction and (hopefully) full recovery will take her out of action.  And her surgeon is making it clear that there is no way a tough touring scedule is going to fit in with the whole process.

"I'm sad to have to cancel any shows for my fans, but they tell me I've just got to stay off this knee for a while," says Loretta.

All dates through the September 3 will have to be reschdeuled.  Current ticket holders can use them for the newly scheduled shows.  Keep track of her tour updates on Loretta's site.

The fact that Loretta is actually cancelling instead of soldiering on and giving her best to her fans is actually very rare.  Her knee was bothering her recently in a concert in Buffalo and she simply asked the fans if she could sit for the performance.  Come on, WHO is going to insist that a 76 year old woman stand in pain?  But, this time around, there will be a complete rest and recuperation.

Loretta recently returned to the Grand Ole Opry for a July 30 performance, but was sidelined in early July by dehydration and heat exhaustion.

Loretta Lynn will be back.  She's been known as a true professional and a star who would do anything for her fans for decades.  We hope for successful surgery and a speedy recovery for the truly legendary Miss Lynn.
