A party will take place in Laramie to celebrate the murals painted downtown this year.

The party will take place from 6:30 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Friday, August 21 and will be held in the alley between Grand and Ivinson and Third and Second Streets.

This is the first such celebration held in a Laramie alley.

The Mural Dedication Party presents a way for people to meet the mural artist and speak to them about their work.

During the event there will be live music with Rich Arbour, a beer tent, Double Dubs food truck, giveaways, raffles, and more.

A HumaNature release party with Wyoming Public Radio will also be part of the event. HumaNature is Wyoming Public Media’s newest podcast which tells dramatic first-person stories about human experiences in nature. The show launches on Aug. 19 with two episodes at HumaNaturePodcast.org.

This year the community helped to paint a mural in a paint by numbers format. In addition, work has already begun on a two year alley mural project in which artists are painting figures important to Laramie’s history.

The Laramie Mural Project started in 2011 and has since completed its twelfth mural. The alley project will add another seven. The purpose of the project is to allow local Laramie artists an outlet to reflect Laramie's cultural assets through large scale murals and public art initiatives.
