The parking lot located off Spruce Street on the east side of Optimist Park will be closed for two to four weeks for the replacement of a sewer line.

According to Parks and Recreation Director Paul Harrison, this is the last major phase of a three phase project to replace a main collector sewer line that runs along Spruce Street.

The City of Laramie has limited space in that area, so the parking lot will be used as a staging area for work on the sewer line.

The parking lot is not the only area that will be affected by the sewer line replacement.

“The traffic on the streets is suggested for local traffic only,” says Harrison. “There will be some closures of the streets, and so people traversing through we are encouraging them not to drive on those streets unless you live on that block and obviously need to be able to access your home.

Harrison notes that youth soccer begins soon, and he wants to notify the public of the possible inconvenience in parking and access to the park itself.

People are asked to access Optimist Park by utilizing the main parking lot located off Garfield Street.
