Practice is underway for the 2015 Wyoming Cowgirls soccer season, as the team began preseason preparation Wednesday.

Fourth year head coach Pete Cuadrado welcomes back a veteran squad. The Cowgirls return eight starters and 15 letter winners from last year’s squad that finished runner-up at the Mountain West Championships. UW ended at 11-9-1 on the season and had an impressive 8-3 mark in the Mountain West.

The 2015 squad will be a young one with no seniors on the rosters. Among the leading returners is sophomore Kaitlyn Lomsnes. She was the MW Freshman and Offensive Player of the Year last season. A First Team All-Conference selection, Lomsnes was also selected to the All-Pacific Region Second Team. She had 10 goals and four assists in 21 matches.

The Cowgirls also return three others that finished in the top six in points from last season.

Wyoming will play two exhibition matches at home before making their official season debut on Friday, August 21 at Montana.

Coach Cuadrado was a guest of ‘Laramie Live on KOWB’ Wednesday. He discussed moving on from last year since it’s a new season; the spring off-season training and matches; their lack of seniors; the 2015 schedule and a bit on Lomsnes with host David Settle.
