With the Primary Election upon us, there are a few things of which people on the Albany County elections staff would like to inform the community.

One thing to keep in mind is that Wyoming is a closed primary state. That means you will only receive a ballot to which you are affiliated on your registration. If you want to make a change to your voter registration, it is allowed at the polling place. If you are making a change, you must bring a photo ID and stop at the voter registration table at your polling place before receiving the ballot.

For those who have recently moved, visit the polling place for your new residence and stop at the voter registration table to change your address before receiving a ballot.

Polls are open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. at all polling places in the county. Early voting at the courthouse ends at 5 p.m. on Friday, August 18. The courthouse is not a polling place the day of the primary election. Any absentee ballots must be dropped off at the courthouse, not at a polling place. Ballots will be accepted through the mail until 7 p.m.

We will provide updates for election results on our website. In addition, the Albany County website will provide updates on their website as well.

One common question that comes to light during every election is that of where to vote. The county provides a simple way for people to find their polling place. You can find your polling place by visiting the Albany County website and clicking on the Polling Place Locator on the home page. You can then type in your residential address and click ‘Get Directions’. The locator will provide you with your polling place, a map of how to get there, and written directions of how to get there. In addition, you will be provided with sample ballots so you know what to expect when you go to the polls.

See the video below for a tutorial on how to locate your polling place.
