Rams Win Border War 45-31 Over Cowboys

Garrett Grayson threw for 390 yards and five touchdowns to help the Colorado State Rams beat the Wyoming Cowboy 45-31 in the Border War Saturday night.

Colorado State (7-1, 3-1) won their second straight in the series and keeps the Bronze Boot for another year.

The Rams built a 24-3 lead by halftime, as Grayson threw three t-d passes. His first was a 21-yard strike to Dee Hart in the first quarter, which gave CSU a 10-0 edge.

Wyoming (3-5, 1-3) responded with a 31-yard field goal by Stuart Williams.

Then Grayson connected with Joe Hansley and Rashard Higgins on touchdown passes of 65 and 43-yards, respectively.

Higgins second t-d grab was a catch and run of 73-yards. It put the Rams in front 38-10 going into the fourth quarter.

The Cowboys scored 21 points in the fourth, which included a pair of Colby Kirkegaard touchdown passes, but it was too late for a rally.

Colorado State amassed 558 yards of total offense. That included 411 yards through the air.

Wyoming scored a season-high in points and piled up 454 yards of offense. Kirkegaard threw for a career-high 335 yards. Freshman Brian Hill ran for 121 yards and two scores.

Hill replaced Shaun Wick, who left the game early with a hand injury. UW went into the game without D.J. May, who tore his ACL during practice earlier in the week.

The Pokes have dropped four straight games. They return to action Saturday, November 1 at Fresno State. The game will kick-off at 8:45 p.m., Mountain Time.
