The Rawlins Downtown Development Authority/Main Street program was selected as a semifinalist for the 2015 Great American Main Street Award.

Rawlins is one of 10 semifinalists vying for the award. The National Main Street Center will select communities from the semifinalists to be chosen as recipients of the award at the National Main Streets Conference in Atlanta, Ga., in 2015.

Rawlins was chosen as a semifinalist this year based on several criteria that include the overall strength of the Main Street program in creating an exciting place to live, work, play and visit; a demonstrated success of the Main Street Four-Point ™ in the community with a focus on economic impacts; a commitment to historic preservation; active involvement of the public and private sectors; and the participation of multiple groups, entities and individuals who have been involved in making the Main Street a great place.

According to the Wyoming Business Council, Rawlins was also selected as a semifinalist last year, which was the first time a Wyoming Main Street community has been selected. The Rawlins Downtown Development Authority/Main Street program received a One to Watch award last year, which recognizes exceptional communities working on very innovative projects, and that are poised on the cusp of major transformation. It was the first time the award was given.
