The National Weather Service Cheyenne Office has issued a red flag warning for southeastern Wyoming because of significant fire danger.

The red flag warning was issued for the Laramie Valley and Shirley Basin and is in effect until 7 p.m. tonight.

The NWS says the red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now or will shortly. Strong winds of 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph, low relative humidity of 10 to 15 percent and warm temperatures are all contributing factors of the fire danger.

The NWS says and fires that develop will likely spread rapidly and outdoor burning is not recommended.
