Children all over the world are breathing a sigh of relief after Santa Claus survived a brutal attack by a hungry bear last night. While shaken, Santa is assuring friends that Christmas will go on as scheduled this year.

Onlookers originally feared for Santa's life after the bear attempted to eat the jolly fat man. Luckily, St. Nick's large belly prevented the bear's sharp fangs from damaging any internal organs.

After being taken to a nearby hospital for observation, Santa was released this morning. He plans to return to the North Pole to finalize his naughty and nice list. Meanwhile, his elves continue preparations to deliver toys to all the good boys and girls across the globe on Christmas Eve.

Wildlife officials were able to capture the bear shortly after the incident. They say the bear has since been stuffed and will remain on display at the Little Bear Inn in Wyoming.
