Savage Wins The Mr. T

Cody Teel set the mark high, but Clayton Savage was able to top it. Savage came away as your champion of the 2015 Mr. “T” PRCA Xtreme Bull Riding.

The Yoder, WY cowboy rode Blue Denim to an 88 point score in the third section of the Mr. “T.” Savage then played the waiting game, but despite two more rides, no other cowboy came close to his top mark.

Savage said of his bull, “A good, big bull. I’ve seen him around and seeing him next to my name, I couldn’t be more tickled. I was dang sure gonna ride him.”

As for the ride, Savage added he was kind of unpredictable.

“He went out one (turn) into my hand and kind of got me into my fingertips; just bared down and rode the best I could.”

Savage also mentioned he hadn’t done great here in the past, but this helps make up for it.

Teel posted an 87 early in the competition on Whiskey Hangover. The Texas Cowboy said he’d heard a lot about his bull, and he held up to his reputation.

“When you come to an event and you know you have him, if you just stay aboard, you know it’s (the score’s) going to be good. Thankful it worked out today.”

There ended up being five other rides with 80 or better scores. Overall, there were a total of 16 qualified rides, with at least two in each of the four sections.

Payouts were not available after the bull riding.

PRCA rodeo action begins Friday with slack in four timed events at 7 a.m. The performances will be at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, as well as 1:30 Sunday afternoon.
