Wednesday kicked off the 19th Annual Shepard Symposium on Social Justice at the University of Wyoming.

Originally called “The Symposium for the Eradication of Social Inequality,” the symposium was formed in 1997. Since that time, the annual event has become a major national conference.

The goal is to engage participants in discussion and analyses of strategies and actions that can eliminate social inequality. The symposium has a wide range of topics including inequalities based on race/ethnicity, gender sexual orientation, disability, and class.

This year's symposium goes from April 8 through April 11. The symposium concludes with the Saturday Night Party on April 11 from 9 p.m.-1 a.m. The party takes place at the Laramie Civic Center North Gym. Tickets to attend are $5. The party is for ages 18 and up. It features a live DJ, dance floor, cash bar, a raffle, and more.

For those who are unable to attend, a live streaming option is available.
