The University of Wyoming’s nationally recognized Nordic ski team will hold its “Trash 2 Treasure” fundraiser from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, at Fraternity Mall.

During the summer, team members collected and cleaned donated items to be used for their fundraiser and community project.

“This will be a great opportunity for people looking for dorm room items, apartment or housing items, especially for foreign exchange students and freshmen,” says UW Nordic Coach Christi Boggs. “Any items that are not sold will be donated to charity organizations around the Laramie community. This year, we have some real quality items so everyone should stop by and check it out."

The UW Nordic ski team is a student-run RSO (Recognized Student Organization), with Boggs and Rachel Watson serving as volunteer coaches. The money earned will go toward race fees, ski wax, travel, lodging and food expenses throughout the season.

Each year, the ski team raises about $30,000. Boggs says UW Campus Recreation club sports donates a preset amount which, along with other funds raised, helps pay national dues and entry fees for the year-end United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association National Championship.
