The country world was widely reporting earlier that Joshua Scott Jones of Steel Magnolia had decided that he had had enough and was checking himself into rehab.  In fact, we reported on it ourselves.  But, Steel Magnolia couldn't just stop performing, and needed a male voice.

When Meghan Linsey, the female half of the duo, remembered the group still had obligations to open for Miss Reba McEntire, she realized that the show had to go on.

That's when James Otto stood up and took on the challenge.

"I want to let you all know that as of now all Steel Magnolia scheduled shows will be happening, including the Reba tour," Meghan wrote to fans on the band's website following Joshua's announcement. "Obviously with Josh taking this time to get healthy he will not be with us, but we will still be playing the same hits you've heard at radio and putting on an amazing live show that might even feature some surprises! As hard as this time has been, I am excited to get out there and see you all. I cannot thank the fans enough for your continued love and support."

In a follow-up interview with our friends at GAC, James saidhe didn't hesitate a moment when given the opportunity.  "I thought our voices would blend really well. I know that our musical tastes are very similar and we're coming from the same place. Man, who wouldn't want to be out on tour with Reba McEntire? That was one of those things that's a no-brainer."

While everyone is hoping for a rapid recovery and a sober life for Joshua, it's nice to know that the group will not suffer any significant set-backs because of his absence.  Now, Steel Magnolia can concentrate on what they do best:  making great music.  And Joshua can concentrate on what's really important to him, getting well.
