Harlem Ambassadors in Gem City for Fun Fundraiser

At this time of year basketball can dominate the headlines for any number of reasons. When it goes to help out a great cause, that's when the highlights really start. The Rotary Club of Laramie is proud to announce a match-up between the Harlem Ambassadors and the Gem City Travelers in a volunteer fundraising basketball event March 25th at the Laramie Plains Civic Center south gymnasium. Jake Owen to Host St. Jude, Autism Benefit in Hometown

In the past few months, Jake Owen has made it clear that he wishes it could be summertime all year long. In addition to releasing an ‘Endless Summer’ EP with four summery tracks, when the handsome country crooner became the headliner for this year’s CMT on Tour package, his multi-city trek was named the ‘Jake Owen: The Summer Never Ends 2012′ tour. He’ll close the tour in December with a stopover in his hometown of Vero Beach, Fla. There, he’ll hold his annual hometown fundraiser to raise money for Autism Speaks, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, and several local charities and organizations.

Big Laramie Duck Race Moved to Huck Finn Pond

Drought conditions in Wyoming mean that rivers are running a little lower these days, so the 8th Annual Big Laramie Duck Race will be at Huck Finn Pond in LaPrele Park this year. A 12-horsepower generator is going to be used to make a stream for the rubber ducks to race down, with the winner getting a prize of $1,000.

Laramie Golf Tournament Supports Hospice

Just as a 1,000 mile journey begins with a single step, an annual tradition must begin with year number one.

That is the hope of Hospice of Laramie, that their inaugural ‘Friends FORE Hospice Charity Golf Classic,’ will become a summer staple and annual event in Laramie.

The charity event will be held Saturday, July 7 at 8 a.m. at Glenn “Red” Jacoby Gold Course with all proceeds supporting the Hospice House Endowment. The Endowment isn’t the only reason for the tournament, the event has been created with the expectation for this to be the premier summer event from Hospice.
