The Wyoming Highway Patrol believes driver inattention or fatigue were possible causes of a crash that closed down one eastbound lane of Interstate 80 near Laramie this morning.
Near milepost 59, the F-250 failed to maintain its lane of travel and drifted across the centerline into the Explorer's lane, where the two vehicles collided head-on.
The commercial truck was traveling at a speed too fast for the steep grade of the roadway, and too fast for a vehicle that size. The rig reportedly weighed 140,000 pounds.
The Wyoming Highway Patrol says investigators don't know why the Subaru crossed into oncoming traffic. But when it did, it collided head-on with a 2017 Ford 500.
