Survey Of The Day

If we had asked this question even 20 years ago, the answer would have been an emphatic NO! And the next response would be “Are you crazy?”. Well, this isn’t 1992, and the issue, to be quite frank, is up in the air.

With the Laramie weather shaping up, many of us in town are venturing out of the house for the first time in months. Embracing this fleeting period of warm weather, it is not uncommon in Laramie to grab food as quickly as possible and taking that with us somewhere, to be enjoyed in the nice weather.

As the weather slowly warms up in Laramie, more and more people are making their way outdoors to get some exercise. Paths and trails are starting to fill up with joggers and more bikes are making their way onto the roads. Luckily, when the weather is cold in Laramie, there are several options for getting some good exercise in.

Downtown Laramie certainly has its fair share of character with buildings of unique architecture featuring a whole host of different businesses. While everyone sees the ground level shops often, what you don’t see is what lies upstairs on the second story, which most buildings downtown do have.

Apple pie is a quintessential American food.  However, I would argue that hot wings also are. While they may not conjure images of Grandma’s kitchen on a sunny afternoon, wings are associated with a different aspect of our culture–nightlife. Wings are found at most restaurants and bars, and they provide a great excuse to get together with friends for a relaxing evening on the town.

This doesn’t seem like a very controversial question. However, considering that it’s been over a decade since we hosted the Wyoming State Basketball tournament, maybe people’s opinions have changed.

Following a rough couple of seasons on the basketball court for the Wyoming Cowboys and with the addition of several new faces (coaches among them), expectations for the 2011-2012 Cowboys were not as high as in years past. This may be why some have said that the purpose of expectations is for them to be surpassed...

For a town of 30,000 people, Laramie is fortunate to have the well established, Ivinson Memorial Hospital, to provide dynamic health care. Perhaps more impressive in this day and age is the fact that IMH has been able to remain a private hospital. It's hard to find about anyone who doesnt' appreciate getting a great deal on some gently used merchandise. Fortunately Laramie has quite a few great great thrift stores and pawn shops to stop by and browse through; you never know quite what you will find at the stores, which is all part of the fun...

A few months ago, everyone watched as the old hospital on the corner of tenth and Ivinson was torn down.  The deconstruction was a bit surreal, like looking into a giant doll house. But should the old hospital been torn down?  A gaping hole surrounded by hastily constructed fence is all that remains of its legacy...

I read with interest the article mentioning that there had been discussion on replacing the Wyoming Family Statue in the middle of Prexy’s Pasture. I was personally taken aback; the statue has been a fixture on the campus for many years and I wanted to see everyone’s opinions on the issue.

Trips to Ft. Collins are fairly common for Laramie citizens, especially when fans are cheering on the University of Wyoming. Whenever the trip is made, drivers have two routes to choose between (weather pending, of course) in U.S highway 287 and Interstates 80 and 25.
