The Band Perry had to be excited about their nomination last year for a Grammy for the best country song category. And they lost.

But lead singer for the group, Kimberly Perry figures that defeat turned out to be bittersweet. If I Die Young didn't win, but the loss actually made them eligible this year for Best New Artist.

The Associated Press is reporting that Kimberly and her brothers are "thrilled" to be representing the country folks in the all-genre category and believes that they are basically ambassadors for each and every country act.

The group also shared a little insight into their mom's feelings about the Grammy's. It seems that their mother wanted three things to go right for her kids in their career:  1. Eventually have a show of their own in fabulous Las Vegas. 2.  Be invited to join the Grand Ole Opry. 3.  Get a Grammy Nomination.  Well, one out of three ain't bad.

The Grammy's will air this Sunday live on CBS.
