Thompson Square‘s Keifer and Shawna Thompson are the latest country stars to use their celebrity status to do good for those in need. The husband and wife duo have joined forces with ChildFund International for the remainder of their 2012 tour dates in order to help bring awareness to the global child development and protection agency, which helps the world’s deprived, excluded and vulnerable children survive.

“When we learned about the amazing work ChildFund International does to help children on a global scale, we knew immediately that we wanted to be involved and figure out a way that we could contribute,” says Keifer Thompson.

The partnership began over the weekend, as audiences on the road were enlightened by a video of Thompson Square discussing ChildFund International and the amazing work that comes out of the organization. The video’s impact will help show how very little can help make a big difference in a child’s life.

ChildFund International will be on site at each concert. There will be a booth set up at every show, which is run by volunteers who each personally sponsor a child through the organization. Fans who visit the ChildFund International booth and sign up to sponsor a child that evening will receive an autographed copy of Thompson Square’s self-titled debut album.

“The concert venues present another great opportunity to share the message and experience of sponsoring a child,” says Matt Panos, VP of Global Fundraising and Communications for ChildFund.

The new partnership between Thompson Square and ChildFund International will be included on the duo’s own headlining performance dates, as well as Lady Antebellum‘s 2012 Own the Night World Tour, on which Thompson Square is an opening act through June.

“We’ve personally sponsored an adorable little girl named Lady from Indonesia and hope to make a difference in her life,” says Shawna Thompson. “Also, giving away one of our signed albums to fans who want to join us and give back to a child in need is the very least we can do to help.”
