Police response  to a possible hostage situation on Casper's west side caused the brief lock down of three elementary schools around noon Friday.

"The schools were notified to go into  lock-down, because officers were responding to a possible hostage situation in the neighborhood of River West off of Robertson Road. No injuries reported at this time."

Casper Police Investigative Sargeant, Deahn Ahmend says no additional details are available.

Shortly before 1 p.m. Natrona School District Safe Schools Director, Dr. Dean Braughton, lifted the lock downs that had been put in place at Paradise Valley, Oregon Trail, and Alcova Elementary schools.  He said police indicated the person in question was in custody.  No students were in danger at any time and Braughton stressed the lock downs were precautionary.
We’ll have more information as it becomes available.
