A tree has fallen onto Custer Street, causing a temporary road closure. Custer Street between 15th and 16th Streets is closed to all through traffic as the tree is cleared.

As of 4:45 today officials at the scene said it would take about an hour to clear the rest of the tree. Workers from the City of Laramie are currently chopping the tree into smaller pieces so they can remove it.

The tree did not fall on any homes or vehicles and no people were injured in the incident. The roots of the tree badly damaged the sidewalk which can clearly be seen in the photos.

Those on the scene speculated that the wind may have been the primary reason for the tree falling into the street. They said tragedy was certainly avoided when the tree did not topple onto a person, vehicle, home or other personal property.
