Two people sustained injuries Wednesday morning at a fire at a four-plex apartment at 1813 Meadowland Drive.

According to a news release, an occupant of the apartment suffered smoke inhalation and other health issues, and a firefighter sustained an ankle injury. Both were transported to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center by American Medical Response for further evaluation.

According to Cheyenne Fire & Rescue Chief Jim Martin, the fire started in the kitchen area of one of the upper apartments around 11:33 a.m. Firefighters were quick to arrive on scene and had the fire out in about 20 minutes.

Fire damage was limited to the one apartment and damage was estimated at $30,000. Cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Cheyenne Fire & Rescue responded with four engines and one ladder truck.
