University of Wyoming Police officials say the public was instrumental in identifying two juveniles as suspects in property damage at two UW athletic facilities.

“The UWPD would like to thank members of the public for their assistance with this case,” UW Police Chief Mike Samp said in a release. “A total of 35 phone calls and 13 separate text tips were received, which greatly assisted in identifying the suspects.”

Because both suspects are juveniles, the names of the suspects will not be released. The property damage yesterday prompted a search for the two individuals seen in the athletic facilities on surveillance cameras.

UW Police acted quickly, releasing a photo of the two suspects with information on how to report tips on their identity.

According to UW Police Chief Mike Samp, the damage caused at the UniWyo Sports Complex and War Memorial Fieldhouse is felony level damage.

“The main damage was damage to one of the playing surfaces in the UniWyo Gym, and again we are still waiting on estimates for that actual dollar estimate on the damage,” says Samp.

Samp did not release additional information on the exact locations affected nor the manner in which they were damaged.

The Albany County Attorney’s Office is reviewing charges for both suspects.
