UW Excited for the Mountain West Football Championship [VIDEOS]
Wyoming head football coach Craig Bohl said it best Monday. The Cowboys are in unchartered waters with their first championship game appearance in 20 years.
UW hosts San Diego State in the Mountain West Football Championship Saturday at 5:45 p.m. in War Memorial Stadium. It’s the first ever post-season football game in Laramie.
Coach Bohl said they’re excited about the opportunity to represent the Mountain Division against the defending conference champs and a really good football team.
Tickets went on sale Sunday and are available through the University of Wyoming Athletic Ticket Office.
Wyoming enters Saturday with an 8-4 overall record and a 6-2 mark in MW games. The Pokes haven’t had this type of success since an 8-4 regular season in 2011. Their conference record is the best since 1998.
Coach Bohl was asked when he first thought his team had a chance to get to this week and this game. Bohl referenced the mid-point of this season and some of the elements that made that thought process possible.
The game is a rematch of a week 12 meeting on Nov. 19, 2016 in Laramie where Wyoming prevailed 34-33 over San Diego State. The Aztecs are the defending conference champions.
