The University of Wyoming Physical Sciences Building has been evacuated this afternoon due to a potential explosion hazard caused by a laboratory error, the university says. No injuries have been reported so far.

The building will remain closed until Monday, according to the university. Associate Vice President of Communications and Marketing Chad Baldwin said the potentially hazardous material is scheduled for removal on Sunday by a bomb squad.

Baldwin said the solution was inadvertently made in a chemistry lab on Thursday. The individuals in the chemistry lab noticed the solution was oxidizing and its temperature was rising on Friday, and UW risk management and safety was called. They then notified the Laramie Police Department.
